The Magic of Jewelry Making
Marisa Cawthorne
βArt connects us to various aspects of our lives. I design jewelry as a connection to the profound beauty of plants and animals in our world. Preservation of nature and its inhabitants drives my creativity.β
Discover the magic of metalsmithing and metal clay as Marisa creates a sterling silver bracelet.
Marisa Cawthorne was born in Mexico City to an American mother and a Mexican father. Growing up in an artistic, multi-cultural family, she gained rich experiences that shaped who she became as an artist.
Cawthorne studied graphic design in Mexico City, but maintaining a special interest in art, she self taught and kept trying new techniques; dabbling in pottery, drawing and painting. It was when she experimented with sculpture that she realized 3-dimensional art was perfect for making jewelry. She studied silver jewelry techniques from Moises Alvarado in Mexico City, took a metal clay certification in Texas with Judy Weers and in Denver studied with Randy Burns. Now the combination of metalsmithing with metal clay techniques are opening more doors for her unique designs.
Every piece is handmade and one of a kind. The metals, natural stones and minerals she uses are responsibly sourced and traced. More of her work can be found here: https://marisacawthorne.jewelry
